Taos, N.M. (June 20, 2024) -- The Town of Taos will delay full implementation of its pay-to-park system until July 15, 2024, as the Town upgrades its new parking infrastructure. The installation of parking kiosks and signage at various parking lots is ongoing. Testing of the payment system, mobile app, and citations is also in progress.
The public is still required to pay-to-park during normal business hours from Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Any person not paying to park may receive a written warning, but not a citation. The Town of Taos Police Department will continue issuing citations for illegal parking not just in the historic district but across town.
Businesses are encouraged to advise their staff to utilize either the Loretto, Couse, or Municipal parking lots for staff parking.
The Town of Taos will hold an public meeting for businesses seeking more information on parking permits. That meeting is tentatively scheduled for two sessions, to accommodate the public, at 9 a.m. or 5:30 p.m. on July 10, 2024, at the El Taoseno Room at 120 Civic Plaza Drive. Dates and times of the informational meeting may change.
