We are located at 400 Camino de la Placita, in Taos. Our schedule is Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm except on holidays.

The Town of Taos is interested in hearing concerns and suggestions from citizens and businesses.  Individuals may address the governing body at Town Council Workshop Meetings, Town Council Regular Meetings during Citizens Forum, public hearings, or at any other time via telephone, email, or written communication.

Regular Town Council Meetings of the Town of Taos are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at 4:00 p.m. Town Council Workshop Meetings are scheduled every fourth Monday of the month at 12:00 p.m.  Town Council Community Workshop Meetings are held quarterly at 5:00 p.m. Meetings will take place at the Town Council Chambers located at 120 Civic Plaza Drive, Taos, New Mexico.   Any meeting that falls on an observed holiday or other scheduled closure is held at the same time and place on the next business day or as approved by the Town Council.  Special Meetings are scheduled as needed and held at the Town Council Chambers unless otherwise noted on the agenda.  For more information email Denise Martinez or call the Town Clerk’s Office at (575)751-2005.

All meeting agendas are available on the Town’s website at least 72 hours prior to the meeting. Regular meetings, special meetings, and workshop meetings are streamed live and are archived for viewing.

The Treasurer’s Office collects the property tax for Taos County, Municipalities, School Districts, Special Districts, and the State of New Mexico. It also acts as a Fiscal Agent for other agencies within Taos County.

On April 26, 2022, the Town of Taos adopted Ordinance 22-02, opting into the Local Election Act to elect a Mayor, Councilmembers, and a Municipal Judge for the Town of Taos. Local elections in New Mexico are held on the first Tuesday in November of each odd-numbered year.   The Taos County Clerk's Office administers the Regular Local Elections.  These elections are nonpartisan and fill municipal and local seats, including school boards, college boards, and city councils/commissions.

The proposed budget and budget message, and all supporting schedules shall be a public record in the office of the Finance Director, open to public inspection by any interested citizen. The Finance Director shall cause the proposed budget to be printed or otherwise reproduced and sufficient copies thereof made available for use in all line departments. Interested citizens may obtain a copy of the budget from the Town at a cost to cover the fee for printing or view online.

Ancianos is a non-profit organization that provides a variety of services to senior citizens 60 years of age and older, and their spouses, regardless of age in Taos County.

Program Governance

The Program is governed by an 11 member board which is made up of:

• Four representatives from individual senior centers
• One representative for the Foster Grandparent Senior Companion Volunteer Program
• One representative from an undeserved and/or unserved geographical area
• One representative from a civic organization providing service to senior citizens
• A member representing the Village of Questa
• A member representing the Town of Taos
• A member representing Taos County
